Meteora

Meteory położone w Tesalii wśród malowniczych, trudno dostępnych szczytów górskich, ukształtowanych przez wodę, to wspomnienie życia klasztornego, które kwitło tam do końca XVIII stulecia. Skały Meteorów to dno prehistorycznego oceanu sprzed 30 milionów lat. Historia zbudowanych tu klasztorów sięga X wieku, a ich konstrukcja zadziwia nawet w dzisiejszych czasach. Przed laty do monastyrów można było się dostać jedynie w koszach umocowanych na linie.

Meteora in Thessaly, situated in the picturesque, hard to reach mountain peaks, formed by water, is the memory of the monastic life that bloomed there until the end of the eighteenth century. Meteora rocks are of prehistoric ocean floor 30 million years before. The history of the monasteries built there goes the tenth century, and their design surprises even today. Years ago, the monasteries could be reached only in baskets fixed on the lines.
